I just can't with this kid.
He keeps me laughing all the time now. Well, laughing or about to pull my hair out with his "terrible threes temper tantrums". (Yeah whoever said two's were terrible - they lied)
He really isn't terrible at all though. He's actually very good and we joke that Charlie may be the "not so easy child". We shall see. Just within the past couple months, Cade has gotten into the VERY "easy age" (moms of small toddlers, I promise it gets easier. Hang in there). He's so self sufficient, potty trained, independent. Will just sit in the waiting room at the doctor's office and so intently watch everyone and everything going on around him. No other entertainment needed.
He's been to the past two doctor appointments with me and he LOVES the nurses. He loves watching them take my blood pressure, last time he even pumped it up and helped. Then when back in the room, the other nurse let him hold the doppler on my belly to hear Charlie's heartbeat. He was just in awe. Truly thought he was something, let me tell you. He really does love his doctor's kit, all things Doc McStuffins (and err....Grey's Anatomy when he would watch it with me) so we joke he needs to continue to love it so he will be a doctor one day. Ha! wishful thinking...
So there's good days when he's absolutely perfect, just the sweetest child you could ever ask for. Then there's days that he is grumpy, more moody, and acts like a 17 year old teenager. I call him "sassy" sometimes and Chad gets so mad. BUT HE IS! Mr. Attitude, no doubt. Now I know why God didn't give me a girl, because my Lord I couldn't handle the sassiness. This kid has got enough, trust. I contribute it 100% to days when he hasn't had enough sleep and needs a nap. You'd think he would be out of naps at this age, but no he still loves them and most days it's crucial. (as in crucial to my sanity...)
However, all in all, I just want to soak up as much of this fun age as possible. He asks so many questions, says so many funny random things, and keeps us on our toes since we never know what he's going to do next. My teacher friends have finished up the school year and are back helping me more at Sugar. Cade's sitter Mrs. Sue also doesn't keep kids during the Summer (bc most all are school teacher kids), so this week has started our "Summer together"!
I am so blessed and so thankful I have a job where I can take whatever time I need, work from home, and spend time with my boy(s). I really want to use the next couple of weeks while we wait on Charlie's arrival, to do fun things with Cade (as much as my tired, aching body will allow. I'm 36 weeks today and feeling every bit of it) and spend as much QT with just "us two" as possible. I seriously can't even believe I'm going to have TWO BOYS soon. I haven't grasped the concept that your heart could love another child as much as you love the first. Everyone tells me your heart just doubles in size and I'm so excited for Charlie to get here, but for now it just still seems surreal. I can't imagine how much our life will change in just a few short weeks. Can not wait!!!!!!!!
For now, here's a few of the random hilarious things Cade says and what he is loving right now so I can document. Love having this blog to go back and look at old posts!
// Going down road he asked if we are going back to beach and will see a sea turtle. So random. I said "yes, baby maybe". He just kinda sighed and said "I'm gonna look so cute holding that sea turtle!" .... omg.
// He loves cantaloupe and watermelon right now. Like, LOVES it. He could also eat fried okra with every meal. His favorite lunches are corn dogs, PB & J, and if we're out grabbing fast food it's always a hamburger over chicken nuggets.
// He puts on shows nightly. Quite the entertainer. He either puts on a pirate show (from all the stunts he has seen at Pirate's Voyage in Myrtle Beach) or he will have his guitar and sing. He wants our undivided attention though, which is difficult if we're trying to get stuff done. All I hear is "WATCH MAMA! WATCH DIS!" 24/7. His favorite songs to sing are "Boys Round Here" by Blake Shelton, "Chillin on a Dirt Road" by Jason Aldean, or his all time fav (that HE never tires of, but my gah have we...) "Wagon Wheel". The videos on my phone are at a max. I have got to upload more to share!
// His favorite cereal is Lucky Charms (which I've been eating a lot of lately too), but he calls them "Chucky Charms". I laugh every time.
// He goes shopping with me a lot and his favorite is "TIXIE MAXX" (aka TJ Maxx!) Hilarious. He asks all the time when we are going to "Tixie Maxx"
// He went into Charlie's nursery a few days ago when I finally got his bookcase set up and when he saw HIS books in Charlie's bookcase, he said "Heeeeeeey those are MY BOOKS!" and proceeded to take them all off the shelf and back to his room. Oh boy. So yeah, we are going to have to work on sharing. He really gets excited though when he sees Charlie's little toys, teethers, and pacis. I think Cade just wants to make sure Charlie doesn't touch HIS toys or books...which thank gosh he won't anytime soon. We can deal with that later!
// Just yesterday he comes out from the bathroom with his hands up in the air (if you can envision Adam Sandler in Billy Madison with his hands up, it makes it even funnier because that's exactly how Cade had his hands) and says "I didn't even HAVE to put hand "sami-tizer" on, I didn't even TOUCH tha potty!"
// Speaking of toilets, he also told me "Mama, when Charlie poo poos...I'm going to sit him on the toilet" Ummm...
// He's ALL BOY. People probably think we beat him, I swear, because his legs are always scruffed up, he always has on a band aid and always has bruises, dirt under his fingernails, etc... This picture was taking while I tried to do a photoshoot at Sugar yesterday (yep, he's still going to work with me some for a few hours and it is always interesting! Post this, he had a major meltdown at Bi Lo and all I could do was laugh. #toddlerprobs) but do you see him climbing on the fire hydrant? He couldn't understand why he couldn't STAND on it. Daredevil. Seriously. Fearless! My hair is way more gray than before I had him, that's all I gots to say.
// Last but not least, here lately when he wakes up and walks into the den or wherever I am , I will say "Hey sugarmuffin!" It's just kinda a new nickname I call him - mainly just in the mornings (mainly because we eat muffins...a lot! BAH!) . I told him he's my little sugarmuffin and asked what we were gonna call Charlie when he wakes up and he said "Sugar cookie". My heart melted.
I love this little sack of sugar, I know that, and look forward to a whole Summer of fun with him...and his new brother. Eeeek! Anxious, nervous, excited, and so many emotions in one.
Bring. it. on.
i still can't believe charlie will be here in only a few short weeks. i keep waiting to get a text from you telling me you're at the hospital.
ReplyDeleteand the "i'm going to look so cute holding that sea turtle" seriously had me LOL'ing at the my desk at work.
he's coming on your birthday, swear. Just left doctor no progression but after 37 weeks next week (full term, aka baby will be fine if comes on out...) then I'm starting to walk like hell and get this show on the road. We shall see! I'm REH-DEE!
