guest bedroom progress.

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Let's face it. I've been saying I was going to remodel our guest bedroom for over a year now. Well, I have but it's just been a slooooooooooooow process. I mean turtle slow. Snail slow. Slow.
Oh and guess what? It's still not 100% complete.
There's still several things I want to do but in the meantime here's a little progress.
What I'm most proud of is my first DIY furniture makeover. We took out the huge, oversized desk and hutch and took my desktop to Sugar so now I just use my laptop at home. Makes more sense.

Here is a photo of the "before" of the desk we had in there. RIDICULOUS. Cluttered, so dark and just awful. [I know you love those multicolored flowers Chad gave me] Plus just for kicks,  HERE is "before" of the room when we first started.

BEFORE:

So I painted an old desk we had at my mom's (and I was a dummy who forgot to take the "before" pic of it). It was oak. Gave it a fresh clean white finish, new hardware and now I love it!

My Erin Condren planner loves it too. Ordered this back in August and I've enjoyed it so much since.
Best planners ever. Worth every penny. I can't find one single complaint.
It deserved it's on photo.

Now onto more of the desk and the room...
The room is technically my "mom cave" as well as a bedroom for guests as it has a daybed. My younger brother just loves all the pink when he comes to visit, let me tell you.

I plan to hit up Ikea when in ATL later this month. I want one of those handy dandy strips that holds the cute pods that will be home for all of my pens, paper clips, and other neccessities.
You know, this whatchamacallit. Plan to install it under the fabric cork board.

AFTER:
Yes, the calendar says October. These pics were taken in October. Told you I was late getting around to things.

I lined the top drawer with quatrefoil shelf liner by MacBeth Collection. They always have it at TJ Maxx! I also lined the shelves on the printer stand.

More photos to come. Just last week we finally got around to hanging curtains and adding a new mirror above the daybed. Now I just need to finish the photo gallery wall and I think I'll be about done. Maybe.

Anyone else have home projects that you seem never end?

We made it a goal to have all of our lingering house projects done by Cade's first birthday party, since we're having it here. Oh and considering we've been here for nearly five years...it's time don't ya think?
Stay tuned!
