{oops thought I posted this yesterday}
Keeping with the 31 days of change, today I wanted to share a few photos from a baby shower I helped with this past weekend for Chad's cousin and one of my good friends (now family) since elementary school! I've also been friends with her husband since we were in kindergarten. Love them both so you can imagine how excited I am that they will soon welcome their first baby - oh and a new cousin for Cade! They are having the FIFTH McClain grandbaby and what do you know, it's the FIFTH baby boy! Add a few more and we've got our own future baseball team? We think so and we are SO excited!
Along with having a baby comes a lot of "unknowns". I knew for one of her gifts I wanted to give her a goody bag full of hospital "essentials" like my friend Ruth gave me! It was full of helpful toiletries, some of which I didn't even know what they were for...until I actually had a baby...so I stocked this bag full of things Holly may need!
My sis-in-law recently purchased a Cricut and made this cute banner for baby Hayden!
Of course I opted for the super easy craft. A little fabric, painted frame and initial = an easy craft useful for decor at the shower and also baby's room. My friends did an awesome job of doing lots of these during my baby showers and I have LOVED displaying them in Cade's room. Even looking forward to using them for decor somehow at his first birthday party!
Monica also made the diaper cake. I think these was her first time making a diaper cake.
Ummm....you would never know would you?
I volunteered to make a wreath for the shower as decor and also something they could hang on the hospital door. Let me be the first to say that before I had Cade I probably would have sat there with hundreds of tiny pieces of fabric to make one of the fabric wreaths, but for the sake of time (which is extremely limited these days) I just wrapped a wreath with fabric for a different look. Painted a wooden letter and wooden square (both from Hobby Lobby) and attached the "accent square" with ribbon to include baby Hayden's stats once he arrives! Woohoo, can't wait!
The food was AMAZING!
Adorable "thank you's" from the mommy-to-be for her guests.
The theme was "sweet pea" along with blues, greens and yellows. I especially loved these adorable sweet pea cake squares! Delish!
The shower turned out really cute and baby Hayden got SO many goodies!
I had Holly's new camera for most of the shower taking pictures as she opened gifts [hence the reason why these were the only random pics I took at the beginning and end of shower] AND we failed to get a pic of all the hostesses. I'll be sure to make up for it and take a million lots when Hayden arrives.
8 WEEKS OR LESS NOW :)
To tie in with the title of this post I was thinking back to this time last year as we prepared for the arrival of our own baby boy. Working on the nursery, reading baby books, or just taking a two hour nap when you wanted. HA! At Christmas time last year, I would always tear up when I heard Faith Hill's "A Baby Changes Everything". If you've never heard it, definitely go read the lyrics. Beautiful song.
A baby does change everything.
Emotionally, financially, mentally, and ladies...shall we even start on the physical changes?
Life as you know it will never be the same.
Life finally makes sense.
I could go on and on but I'll end with this cute quote that truly sums it up.
"A baby will make love stronger, days longer, nights shorter, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for."
