For my first attempt to catch up on blogging, how about a little laughter? I'm so tired I'm delirious right now and started this post over a week ago of our anniversary trip recap so here it is...
As I've mentioned before, my husband is quite the comedian. Honestly, I have no idea how he comes up with this stuff, but I must say that he makes me laugh at least once a day and that is why I'm probably the happiest girl in the world.
After our visit with Corkden {a.k.a. Courtney, Kirk, and Cayden} , we continued our "road trip" through NC, traveling through beautiful backroads at sunset. We had such a fun time. Windows down, amazing views, a little Lady A on the radio...just me and Chad, just how I like it. We had no plans for the night, no particular place to stay. Kept driving and loving the spontaneity of it all. "just as free. Free as we'll ever be..." Don't pretend you can't hear me singing this right now.
We settled in to a nice hotel in Charlotte and Chad informed me that even though it wasn't our anniversary just YET, he wanted me to open my gifts. [of course I gave in. It's not like he had to twist my arm or anything] Remember now that I had mentioned to Chad weeks before that the "2 year traditional anniversary gift" was cotton. I told him it would be easy-peezy because all he would have to buy me was clothes or something and I had already picked out an awesome cotton camera strap on Etsy.com . Well he reaches into this trash bag [no lie. this is where the "red" in that neck of his comes out], tells me to close my eyes and he pulls out this....
a "flower" made out of spray painted COTTON.
Ya'll, I about died.
When did he have time for this "craft"? I have no idea, but nonetheless he put his whole [creative] heart into this rose flower [its really sweet because he has always made me "paper roses" out of napkins] just to impress me and make SURE he was sticking to the specific 2nd anniversary theme - cotton.
He seriously is the cutest thing.
Of course the "cotton" flower wasn't all I got. He surprised me with an hour massage and a body scrub. Definitely looking forward to pampering myself one afternoon at the spa and feel very blessed.
Also love my new camera strap and have already put it to good use.
So, my gift to him was an iPod {wrapped up in a Guy Harvey tee to incorporate the "cotton" part. Hey... I'm not as clever.}. He had been wanting one for so long to use while working out and also in his Jeep. He had me laughing all weekend since he was SO worried about the iPod, like you had given him a frail new little baby, and he kept saying...
"Where's my iPhone?"
honey it's not an iPhone.
"I mean, where's my iTouch?"
honey it's not an iTouch
"No really, where's my iPad?"
Honey.
He barely even knows how to get on the internet on our Mac at home, won't have anything to do with that "thing called Facebook", and let's not even begin to ask him what a "tweet" is.
Needless to say, I've got some work to do, but feel like we are heading in the right direction...
with the iPhoneTouchPadPod.
The next day we enjoyed sleeping in, a delicious meal and cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory, and a little shopping. What a coincidence...all of my favorite things!
What can I say, after 6 years of being together, the kid certainly knows the ways to my heart.
Cheers to 2 years, new technology, road trips, sunsets, cheesecake, laughter,
and of course, a whole lotta cotton!
precious! that chad cracks me up!
