Speaking of crafts...

I love being creative, have enjoyed art classes my whole life and when I find the spare time, [which is almost never] I love to paint. Recently I went out on a limb and tried to make bow holders and an announcement plaque to hang on door of hospital, nursery, etc... for my friend who is expecting her second baby girl in October. Here's how they turned out:

The colors for the nursery are pink, turquiose, and chocolate.
This was before we added the space for her stats:
The date she is born, her lbs and oz, and length
Can't wait for Blakely to arrive and see this put to use
bow holder to match big sister Emerson's room
bow holder to match Miss Blakely's room

However I will say that this little project (painting one of our dressing rooms in "Lilly's story" like one of the signature stores did) was probably the project that almost made me NEVER want to pick up a paintbrush again. I think it took a total of 36 hours from start to finish. Insane, but totally worth it.
[this was before the dressing rooms were "finished"]

Also, my friend Beth is very creative and will hopefully be opening an Etsy store soon! Check out some of her super cute designs HERE. She inspires me to be more creative. Head over to her blog so you'll be the first to see when she gets it up and going!

  3. Love it!! You are quite the artist. I had a hard time finding paintings for the nursery. So I painted a few this weekend. I have not painted since 5th grade! Ha. But there is something relaxing about it. I still find it pretty hilarious that rather than spending my Friday nights in five points, I spend them painting sailboats and sea-horses :)
