Disneyworld 2020 | our resort + magic kingdom

Saturday, October 10, 2020

well ten months later, I'm finally documenting our Disney trip from earlier this year. This little blog of mine is still my "online scrapbook" and while I'm usually too busy to update, it's definitely good for my soul when I get everything uploaded and organized! (because that's certainly few and far between. haha)

So yeah, we went to DisneyWorld over Martin Luther King weekend in January. We took our oldest son, Cade, to Disney for his fifth birthday back in 2017 and left our littlest, Charlie, ( who wasn't even two yet) stay behind with Grami. Well Charlie turned five in July, so we knew that 2020 was the year to finally take him. We also knew that we didn't want to be in Orlando, FL in the heat of Summer so we went ahead and made plans to go in January (so glad we did now!). Perfect timing after Chad (a USPS rural carrier) and myself had just finished our busiest holiday season. We were exhausted and craving family time. We also planned this trip along with Chad's best friend, Casey + his wife + son and we made plans to meet up with my best friend/college roomie who lives in Tampa, FL. The more, the merrier and it certainly was!

During our last Disney trip, we stayed at Coronado Springs. Totally different experience since we flew using SkyMiles. This trip, we drove and were able to take more food + chose not to do a dining plan, so we needed a kitchenette area. We also skipped Epcot last time, so this go round we wanted to be as close to Epcot as possible. All signs pointed to Beach Club or Yacht Club (within walking distance to Epcot) so our Disney travel agent (FREE!) helped us snag a Beach Club Villa at a fantastic, reasonable price! I would 100% recommend using a free Disney travel agent as they can always find the best deals and y'all, they're FREE. Totally. Disney pays them commission, not you. You're also supporting their small business and helping them put food on the table. It's a win, win for everyone.

So let me show you around the gorgeous hotel that is Disney's Beach Club.

The scenes and scents (yes, the pump these magical smells throughout the hotel to make it seem as if you're coming right in from the salt and the sea) are divine. It felt like total luxury. Wait, no...it was totally luxury!!!

We left our home in Due West, SC around 7am that Thursday morning and ended up at the resort around 5pm after stops to eat, traffic, etc...

We quickly unloaded, settled in and waited on Casey, Kenzie and Troy to arrive so we could grab dinner. They also went through the same travel agent and she easily synched up our trips so we even had the same fast passes, dining reservations, etc... and we were only a few rooms apart which the boys loved!

the boys' tees are sold out but similar cute striped mickey tee HERE
also Charlie's TOM's were a favorite and I love the new updated color way

We ventured out and walked over to "The Boardwalk" ("a quarter mile promenade of exquisite dining, unique shops and exciting nightlife". Easily accessible from Beach Club or Yacht Club or you can hop off at Epcot from the Skyliner and also be right there)  for dinner reservations at ESPN Club. When you have three boys, it's a given. Kenzie and I were totally outnumbered here. The food was good (think typical bar food: burgers, fries, yummy drinks) and after we ate, we were so exhausted we headed back to crash.

my striped "Minnie" tee and Charlie's , both from GAP (no longer available, but so many cute Disney styles and most likely always on sale)

We also knew we had an early morning breakfast reservation and LONG day at Magic Kingdom to kick off our trip. We made reservations at Cape May Cafe, which is an awesome breakfast buffet/character meal downstairs at our hotel, Beach Club, that features Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. NOTE: Mickey is not present at this one and Charlie was SHOOK. So if you're wanting to see the big guy, stick to breakfast at Chef Mickey's , Ohana, and others.

Here's my boys waiting for our reservation right outside Cape May restaurant entrance. This overlooked the small lake and the boardwalk further away! Beautiful views...

pink sequin Mickey ears from the Disney Store

all of my Lilly is from Sugar

(*pink Mickey sequin ears can be found HERE, and I think these are cute too..._

posing with Minnie...

I think the boys' tees are from GAP or Kohl's

absolutely loved Minnie's outfit. The only place you'll find her in this one!

all of my Lilly Pulitzer is from my shop, Sugar

aqua New Balance sneakers // linked up similar HERE

The boys snagged lots of autographs and we all filled up on more than we could even eat + aaaaall the coffee. Next up, we took the bus from our hotel over to Magic Kingdom which only took about 10 minutes.

we had a few fastpasses for later in the afternoon (I failed on this because I didn't wake up and snag as soon as I should have) so we went straight to some of the classics like Dumbo...

Chad's awesome "GASTON TEE"

then the pics are a little out of order, but around 3pm we took the bus back to the resort so the boys could rest a bit (Charlie was exhausted, it was a very early morning!) and we could gear back up for our 5:30 pm FASTPASS for Mine Train and stay for fireworks, etc...

I was nervous about Charlie riding MINE TRAIN because when Cade was five he freaked at the last minute and bailed. I ended up riding front row with a stranger while Chad took him off (LOL) but Charlie. was. a. champ. SO proud of him!

Mickey's Philharmagic 3D show is always a great way to sit down in the a/c and rest!

we rode Haunted Mansion at night, which we missed the previous trip with Cade so that was fun and we finished the night off with fireworks! We actually ended up ordering room service when we got back and we were DONE. Ready to rest up for another exciting day....

There's nothing like these views. Stay tuned for Day 2!
