This past weekend we headed up to the outskirts of Bryson City, NC near Lake Fontana for a mountain weekend with friends. Chad's very bestest friend + several neighbors / friends of ours (one being a cousin of mine, so yeah all in the family...). They had just asked us to join them a few weeks ago and since Chad and I were long overdue for a weekend away without the kids, we jumped on the opportunity. Four in one cabin and us four in ours, but since they were next door we just all did our own meals, etc... but met up to hang out. We never left the cabins, ate too much food, spent way too much time in the hot tub, never washed my hair, stayed in sweats and just did absolutely nothing. Pretty fabulous, actually.
I mean, waking up having coffee with this view? It did rain during the night Saturday night but for the most part the weather was perfect - never too cold.
The four men had a "redneck tournament" complete with BB gun shoots, corn hole and pool tournaments. I mean, definitely doesn't take much to entertain them. Lord help. Casey (shown here with Chad) will compete again in a few weeks for the Bassmaster Classic, which is coming back to Greenville SC. He won in 2015 when I was pregnant with Charlie. Everyone is hoping for another win this year now that it's back in "our hometown" state!
They have been friends since they were like five and yes, they are some fools. Never a dull moment!
On the way home Sunday we did eat out for lunch and did a little antique shopping / souvenir shopping for the boys. I wanted to take aaaall of this home with me.
...then we trekked back down the mountain as fast as we could to get to our babies!!!
So yes, a fun relaxing weekend spending time with friends/neighbors but most importantly some QT with my man where we weren't taking someone to the potty, fixing an apple juice, making a PB&J, etc... We miss the boys like crazy, don't get me wrong, but we are really looking forward to more trips together this year as we celebrate 10 YEARS!!!!!
Now to unpack and repack for this weekend's adventures...
