Life is just a vapor.

Sunday, November 29, 2009

Today, in preacher Jerry's sermon he talked about how "life is a vapor". {Click here to download sermon} We are only here for such a short time, that's why it's so important to know where you will spend eternity. He also mentioned that from one Sunday to the next, he never knows what will happen or who he will bury, but he knows that death is inevitable and we must be ready.

Jerry and his family have come face to face with death over the past few weeks. Two weeks ago, Jerry's mother Leila {my great Aunt - see post here} passed away from a sudden stroke. He lost his father a few years ago, and the only family he had left was his older brother Mike, who recently developed a lung disease and was on oxygen - waiting on a transplant. I asked you all to pray and the church, family and friends of the Gray family prayed constantly for Mike, but God had another plan. Mike passed away Wednesday November 26th - just a day before Thanksgiving.

So as I post about our "family traditions" that we had Wednesday night and how special our time was together, my heart breaks for Mike's wife, 4 children and 4 grandkids. I know exactly what they are going through, losing their father, and know how much they need prayer and support right now.  I can not imagine what Preacher Jerry is going through, losing his mother and brother within weeks apart but I do know that Jerry's unwavering faith in the Lord is his strength to get through this...

and what a wonderful peace and comfort he has, knowing that he will see them again in Heaven.

"Think of stepping on shore and finding it Heaven!
Of taking hold of a hand and finding it God's
Of breathing new air, and finding it celestial air,
Of waking up, and finding it Home!
-Anonymous

Please continue to keep this family in prayer.

They will certainly be missed
