we ended up going BACK to Asheville, NC this past weekend to see Chris Knight, Drew Parker and Ashland Craft in concert at The Grey Eagle! We started the afternoon with 1. a stop by the Asheville Outlets so I could stock up on Vineyard Vines for all my boys. Y'all that Vineyard Vines outlet is amazing. I'll never pay full retail price again. Easter outfits? check. 2. we met up with friends at New Belgium Brewery and had one of the best grilled ham/cheese I've ever had in my life.
For dinner we went to the venue, The Grey Eagle, which also serves tacos. BAH. It is such a small venue but hey I loved it. Intimate setting, great acoustics and no lines at any bar, bathroom, or line for food. What more could you ask for?
So Chris Knight has been one of our favorites since we use to listen to him with Chad's first cousin, Drew, 10+ years ago. Drew was killed in a car accident in 2007 - just a few months after being asked to be a groomsmen in our wedding. It was an emotional night seeing Chris Knight in concert for the first time after so many songs had so many memories for us, but we were with such an awesome crew who made it SO much fun and it was another great "must see" to check off our concert bucket list.
we still listen to Chris Knight out on the boat all Summer and it will forever remind us of that particular 4th of July we spent with Drew and all of Chad's other cousins.
We miss him more than words could even explain.
When you lose someone you love...when you lose FAMILY...you lose a piece of your heart you'll never get back. To watch my husband (then, in 2007, my fiancé) lose not only a cousin, but a best friend he'd grown up with & made so many memories with...is indescribable. I still can't imagine what Drew's family has went through. I just hope they know that he will never be forgotten.
Ashland Craft opened up the show and she's a local gal from Piedmont, SC who made her claim to fame on The Voice! She is the sweetest and so down to earth. We loved meeting her...
again, it was SUCH a fun crew and we had the best time!!!!
definitely can't wait to find another concert and round up the crew again...
Sunday afternoon we got home to snuggle our babies and relax, all to find out that Cade had already schemed up a plan to go fishing with Mimi & Papa. They had a blast
So that was our weekend and now we've got a super busy week!
First up, tomorrow, we launch our Easter collection over at www.scsugar.com and have a FUN Wine Down Wednesday planned too. More details coming soon...
