weekend fun :: soccer + birthday party fun

Wednesday, August 30, 2017

We had a busy (FUN!) weekend with opening day of soccer season on Saturday morning + a fun birthday party for one of my sweet friend's little girls who turned T W O!

First up, opening day of soccer season.

We haven't ever even thought of Cade playing soccer because to be honest, Chad and I know nothing about the sport. HA Chad only played baseball and football. Well when Cade attended Erskine College sports camp this Summer he played a little soccer and absolutely fell in love with it! Bought him a soccer ball and he loved kicking it around in the yard and playing some with Chad.

When it came time for Fall soccer sign ups, we of course asked him if he wanted to play. He BEGGED to play. Oh my goodness, is he excited! After the first practice I asked him if he had fun and he said "Mama this is like a dream come true!!!!". It just nearly made my heart burst to see him so excited. He was way more excited about soccer than t-ball, even though he does seem to love both.

First up Saturday morning was team photos...

a small team and lots of little ones!

All of the Upper Abbeville Rec teams played Saturday morning so it was fun seeing all of his best buds.

Grandma Frieda even braved the heat to come out and watch Cade + our nephew Maddox play!

It's also Maddox's first year playing! His twin brother doesn't care a thing about it, but I think it's awesome they're both getting to the age they're interested in different things and you can really see their different personalities...

Then it was time for games. Maddox first...

Then Cade...

y'all. check my boy out!

we're working on him being more aggressive (bless it, sweet thang) but he does pretty good (even if it's probably just because he's one of the oldest on the field :)

again, so proud of him and as a parent you're always thankful that your child enjoys a new hobby and is passionate about something. it sure makes for a busy week schedule but how awesome for him to learn sportsmanship, get in some exercise and make new friends!

Never thought I'd be a boy mom or soccer mom, but good grief do I love it.  Now I couldn't see myself as anything else. God knows exactly what he's doing and I am one blessed mama!

On Sunday we went to Spartanburg for Hadley's second birthday party!

Hadley and Charlie are just a month and a half apart in age and her mom Kelly and I  (and Beth in pic below) have been friends since college. Beth and I were actually there the night Kelly and her now husband Brad met. We like to think we're the reason they're together and have this beautiful family they have now ;)

Such a fun, cute birthday theme. She had a tropical snow cone truck there and the best bouncy/water slide. We didn't know we needed to bring swim trunks though so that's why my boys are just in their shorts and/or swim diapers! Thank the Lord they're easy.

posing with Aunt Bef!

We joke that we will have an arranged marriage for these two, but I don't think we will have to try too hard because they've always been obsessed with each other. It is seriously the cutest thing...

Love this sweet girl (aka my future daughter in law)...

Also don't forget today is the last day to take advantage of the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale over on Sugar's website's! We're also doing FREE SHIPPING with promo code: LILLY

Still lots of fabulous items left! Don't miss it!
