Charlie's First Haircut!

...DUN...DUN...DUN!!!

Usually when people see Charlie's long curls they either 1. call him a girl (even if he's in a blue jonjon) or they will 2. tell me to NEVER cut his curls. 

Trust me, I didn't really want to (because when we cut Cade's curls they never grew back and his hair is straight as a stick) but the fro was getting out of control!!! This is how Charlie woke up the other morning...

It seriously was so long and would get so tangled up and only really looked great straight out of the bath. Then, his little ringlets were PERFECT. But *sigh* we decided to take the plunge because I have naturally curly hair, my dad had curly hair, and Chad's sister has curls. Surely to goodness he's destined to keep his curls. Here's how the day panned out...

First up, totally unrelated but this is Cade the morning we went to Greenville for lunch with Beth + the haircut. Can you say 4 going on 14?????

So we went to Groucho's and had an early-birthday lunch with Beth, as I mentioned the other day, then we went over to Snip-It's on Woodruff Road! We had taken Cade here once before in the Fall and it was the all around "kid cuts experience". I usually take Cade to this little barber shop in Anderson, but I knew for Charlie's first haircut we had to go to Snip-It's!

He was fine playing and then we put him in the chair to put the cape on and he FREAKED OUT! He kept saying "OFF! OFF!!" 

Bless it.

Then she turned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the ipad and that was ALL he needed. They were prepared, hence why I'm glad we took him there...

Then he was thinking "mama, whaaat have you done!?" 

Still not sure what to think! look how BIG he is!

...and look at this certificate with his little curls. We couldn't stop laughing because it looked just like a mug shot! HA! Poor baby...

Afterwards I somehow wrangled them both to run in Trader Joes. Cade was in heaven with the little buggies...

So that was our day and verdict: Charlie's curls are still there, just shorter and he really does look so grown!! If his hair grows out as fast as mine does, those little ringlets will be back in no time. 

It's crazy how fast time flies by!!!
