This past week there were a crazy amount of exciting happenings over at the new casa. Interior doors installed, a few light fixtures (and lights ON!), tile, trim starting, back deck finished, and front porch columns set in place.
What a difference these columns make. They don't look exactly how they will in the end, plus we have to add railings. Black shutters, more trim, finish siding and then they have to backfill around the brick (aka the dirt will be higher than it is and cover the cement block). I love, love, love the look of our little cape cod style home though. Could not be more pleased with how it has turned out. If you look closely you can see front porch lights were installed and under the porch (what you can't see) are small black fans to keep us cool when we're out there front porch rocking and sipping our sweet tea! The sun sets behind the house so I know in the evenings we are going to enjoy our front porch and big front yard so much. I can see Cade and our dog Cash running around now...
Kichler Seaside Light Fixtures, from Quarles in Greenwood.
You can also see how our siding isn't really as dark as it appears in most pics.
Shocked when we walked in last week and LIGHTS were on. Granted the recessed cans are hanging out of the ceiling, but I love how our SW Worldly Gray paint color looks in all lights now, day and night. They've since added trim around those doors and transom windows which also made huge difference.
I told our builder we had a supervisor for hire if he needed one. Cade was obsessed with opening/closing the windows I swear a total of 763 times the other night and checking on the men working on the deck. This is why we don't take him over there more often. BAH!
Our deck ended up being so low that it didn't require railings, which we nixed to save money. We plan on adding "bench seating" later on but for now it's going to be a great "raised patio" and I'm sure with all my planters and flowers, plus major (budget friendly) landscaping around it, we can make it look more cozy.
Glad we decided to go with the big open steps.
So that's all for now, but excited to see the tile finished this week (well, not grouted but all in place) and the trim done. We went weeks without not much happening, now it's as if everything happens at once. So very exciting and hopefully we are still looking at a January move in date.
Fingers crossed because that will be merry late Christmas AND Happy birthday to me!!
Your new home is beautiful! Love those columns and those French Doors!
