:: weekend fun ::

Whew! We had a fun, busy weekend and today has been rough getting back into the swing of things, but we are trying to soak up every little bit of Summer before it's gone. Summer weekends are my fav!

Love this photo of Cade riding a tricycle Thursday evening at Papa Jack and Grandma Frieda's. It was J.T's birthday and they had a little fish fry for him. I scurried over after working Sugar's Girls Night Out event, which was super fun and I appreciate all who came out! [There's still amazing deals available, so stop by this week if you haven't yet!]

The boys played "baseball" in the yard and Cade tried on cousin Jackson's catching gear.

I also finally walked up to Blossom Shoes & Such to see what all they had on sale as well. TONS of shoes! Also hit up Blossom when you come to Sug. Swear. I finally snagged these amazing hot pink bow Butter heels. If this isn't a Sandi McClain shoe, I don't know what is. They were practically screaming at me to take them home. I should really be saving, but that's the thing. Everything I've purchased lately has been for the house so I had to treat myself a little. I'm a firm believer that every woman deserves to do that every once in a while!

Speaking of the new house, Friday night after dinner Cade was feeling so much better so we decided to ride over  and check things out.  One of our favorite things today about once or twice a week. It's only fifteen minutes away! As you can see, they've gotten a lot done lately. We took my mom and finally gave her a tour. Cade was sooooo excited to show Grami his new room and bathroom. He knows exactly where it is, trust me. More updates soon.

Saturday afternoon when Chad got off work (booo, he has to work every. Saturday. now), we headed over to the Isbell Oasis (as I've named it. AKA: Monica and Wayne's pool) for a big welcome home party for Wayne's brother Michael who has been in Afghanistan since last August. He came home about a week ago and surprised his nine year old daughter at a Greenville Drive game Monday when she just thought she was throwing out the first pitch. Little did she know her dad was home and the catcher behind the plate. We weren't able to go, but watched THIS VIDEO that evening on Fox Carolina News and it was THE sweetest thing ever. Check it out!

We kicked off the party with lots of fun by the pool...

Yummy food (they had drunken chicken and a full pig on the grill) and an amazing cake made by Kim Brown! She is in Liberty, SC and has done birthday cakes for my sister-in-law for years. She also did Cade's first and second birthday cakes and she is the bomb.com. She can do anything and the best part is they taste just as amazing as they look!

my little fish had so much fun with all the kids...

Later that evening Cade went over to Mimi & Papa's at bedtime while Chad broke out the guitar and had a little concert with his bff Casey on the deck (who has been singing for years and even recorded an album for pete's sake. That's his sweet gf in the pic with me and Cade. Cade looooves him some Kenzie! I told Casey he better watch out ;) The boys had plenty of "practice" with their "set list" (I am totally joking here. You never know what they are going to break out with. Everything from Dixieland Delight to Gin & Juice) while performing at Fripp one night. Thank gosh they live out in the country because you could probably hear our huge crew from a mile away when the boys broke out Justin Moore's "Flying Down a Backroad". If you haven't downloaded it, you should. (click the link to watch the acoustic version on YouTube. You have to go to about the 1:00 mark to skip the talking first) Chad's favorite song lately. Oh and if you hear a bunch of crazy kids belting it out in the distance, you know we are close by. Lawd!

 That's our Saturday night in the South.
and really what Flying Down a Backroad is all about...the simple things in life being the best things in life.

Sweet family, great friends, good food, and good music.
That's it. All you need!

Such a fun night and so glad to have Michael home safely, as well as the rest of his crew.
Thankful for their service. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!
