After working a 4 day work week, I was eager to make lots of goodies Thursday night for a 4th of July pool party at Chad's sister and bro-in-law's new pool! I made a flag fruit pizza (did not turn out as good as Pinterest though...of course), my favorite Greek Bow Tie Pasta, and my favorite Texas Caviar dip. Yum!
Friday morning we woke up and got ready to head to the pool. Cade was so anxious, he had been looking forward to it all week. Can't believe this was his third 4th of July. He kept asking "Mama are we going to go to the pool or what?". I mean, excuuuuuuse me Mr. Attitude. You'd never know it by these sweet smiles, right?
We loaded up, his hat was a requirement (even though too little for him now) and his daddy's guitar. You never know when an impromptu acoustic concert is requested...
Up until that evening we had ALL boys in the pool! One time I think there was like 10+. It was madness, but so much fun. Thank goodness "the girls" (Emerson and Blakely) came to save the day in their adorable little tutu swimsuits. Have mercy. The cutest. We needed to add a little pink to all of that blue!
Speaking of pink, thank goodness Cade had new lifejacket and puddle jumper so his daddy wouldn't stroke when he saw him wearing a PINK one of the girls, but he did have fun modeling mama's hat....hilarious.
The pool and sun wore him slap out, so he finally took a nap while Papa Josh fired up the grill....
Ribs for days...my father in law is definitely the grill master. I wish this photo was scratch & sniff. Seriously.
and Cade is just like his daddy. He tears. it. up.
Ohmygah, he'd rather eat meat than veggies and carbs any day!
After dinner, the boys had fun riding tractors and jumping on trampoline.
Can't believe I managed to get this photo of "the three amigos"!
Carter and that arm. I can't. These boys make me laugh so hard.
On Saturday evening we headed out for a little sunset cruise on Papa Josh's boat because the fireworks at Lake Secession were moved from the 4th to the 5th. Have you ever? Why? Blows my mind. Anyhoo, before we left (Cade actually went to eat Mexican and watch fireworks with Grami and Charles so mama and daddy could have an "adult night" [read: so we could sit in peace for a few hours] ) Cade and I took selfies while waiting on daddy to get ready after he got home from work. We had been lazy all day so we were raring to go. Especially Cade, he was ready to go see Rebel (Charles' dog) and the new baby chickens that just hatched. Always something!
My SUNSHINE.
...my only SUNSHINE!
Sunset waiting for fireworks over at friend's house while the guys played cornhole, per the usual.
Their favorite thing to do!
So yeah, sorry for the photo overload but it was such a great weekend. Sunday we were also extremely lazy. I did manage to do some laundry and everyone get a list together of what to take to the beach but hmmm...yeah, that's about it. I haven't had a long 3 day weekend doing absolutely nothing in a long time so I thoroughly enjoyed it.
(and by that I mostly mean haven't had a three day weekend where the store was closed and I didn't have to worry at all, about a THING! Not that the girls don't do a fabulous job when they work, because they definitely do. It's just even on days off, I usually always text - check in - worry. It's my "second child". Being closed those two days was a huge break for me and I was raring to go back today to get things prepped for our upcoming big end-of-Summer sale! So exciting!!!! Not going to lie though, it took multiple cups of coffee. Le duh.)
Hope everyone survived their Monday and had a fabulous 4th!
Looks like tons of fun and baby boy looks like he def enjoyed himself!!! After reading other blogger's post, I don't feel as bad that I did not get hardly anything done on this 3 day weekend!
ReplyDeleteYep, everyone deserves those weekends every now and then right??
DeleteHaven't caught up with you in what feels like forever! Cannot believe how much sweet Cade has grown - and that thick head of gorgeous sandy blonde hair! So glad y'all are doing well!
