let's talk makeup.

I've done a post similar to this before, but here's just a few of my favorite makeup products. Some tried and true, used for years, and some new favorites.

First up, I really should use a face primer every time but I don't. Just moisturizer. However, I do religiously use an eye primer and have found Mary Kay's to be the best. Have used for years and swear by it. It's the only way I can keep my eye makeup to stay put, especially during hot Summers in the South. [Local friends, contact my sis in law Monica. She's an MK sales rep and she will hook you up]

Ok, these are not in order but it would be concealer...HD foundation...then Mary Kay.

Mary Kay's mineral makeup is the best. I try to use Bare Minerals but the coverage just does not compare. MK has the best matte finish and yes, for even more coverage I use a little over the liquid HD foundation to set it. Let me remind you I may be 30 but my face apparently thinks it's 16. More on that later. I really have never had great skin. That's why I love my makeup so much! Helloooo!

Make Up Forever HD Foundation. I've used this for about three years now religiously. It goes on like silk and is by far the best liquid foundation I've tried. In the Summer, I usually only wear my Mary Kay mineral makeup since I have a tan and don't need that much coverage, but in the Winter (and the way my face has been breaking out lately) I've needed both! It works wonders.

My other secret weapon is good concealer. I can not live without concealer and eyeliner.

YSL makes an awesome "touch up concealer" that's easy to keep in your purse, click the bottom and touch up as needed. Great coverage and stays!

Mary Kay concealer is also AMAZING. It stays put all day and provides major coverage.
Lifesaver. Really.

On to the eyes...Mary Kay also has one of my favorite mascaras I've been using for years and still swear by. It's called Ultimate Mascara and more recently their newest is Lash Love. Both the best mascaras out there, but I did receive a sample of YSL Shocking in a kit my sister gave me and holy cow - it really is shocking. Goes on so easy, smells great (is that weird that I noticed?) and lengthens lashes like crazy.

My eyeliner has been changed forever. I don't think I will ever go back to pencil after trying the pot.
Yes, the pot. This little pot of black goo. Merle Norman's Luxiva Lasting mascara that you apply with their eyeliner brush. It's super dark, waterproof, and the only eyeliner that legit will stay on all day. Even on hot Summer days. It's amazing. Total game changer. You can totally get the hang of applying eyeliner with a brush too, trust me. Try it!

While I love my new Urban Decay Naked 2 shades, my all time fav I've used for years is MAC eye shadows. I have about 5-6 go to shades. Three neutrals, one dark, and one light.
My favorite color ever is Woodwinked. It's a great goldish-bronze.

I will say Urban Decay's eye shadows have great pigment and stay on well too!
I love the variety of colors and since I just got this, eager to play around and try more color combos.
Feel like I have definitely jumped on the "Naked" bandwagon.

I didn't post a pic of blush, but I use Mary Kay. I also want to try Nars blush in Orgasm - which they say is the best color ever. That may be my next purchase when I run out of the MK, but hers are great.

Stila lip glazes have been my favorite for a few years. Target Elf brand makes a great copycat, and for $1 a pop I definitely pick them up to have extras, but you do get what you pay for and it doesn't compare to the real thing. My favorite colors are Starfruit and Apricot. I love love love these!

and one of my newest products I've received in my Birchbox recently and fell in love with is SUGAR tinted lip balm in Petal. No, I don't just love it because it's SUGAR either! It really is some of the best lip balm I've ever used and this color is fabulous. I put a little on in the morning before I walk out the door and it instantly seems to make me look awake.

It's a splurge but seems to last a while. I may just have to purchase more soon!

That's my round up for today. Any new makeup must haves I should try?
I'm always on the lookout for the latest and greatest.
