I know there's going to be several posts about Lilly Pulitzer on the "blogisphere" today, as so many were deeply saddened to hear the news that Lilly had passed away yesterday morning.
Here's my tribute to Lilly and my experience meeting this amazing legend...
Lilly was a dreamer. She wasn't ordinary. She was extraordinary.
Never boring, always said what she thought...
and I picked up on all of this just within five minutes of meeting her!
In 2009 we (myself, Kimberly (on right) owner of Blossom Shoes, and Lisa (far right) owner of The Frilly Frog) traveled to West Palm Beach as the "Greenwood Trio" (so they call us) for the first time.
We got the surprise of our lives when they told us that Lilly herself would casually be popping in the showroom for lunch. Say what???
A dream. come. true.
The woman is hilarious.
Daring. Fearless.
SUCH an inspiration for women everywhere!
When we traveled back to WPB in 2011, another treat.
Lilly would stop by the showroom to have lunch with us again!
We couldn't believe it.
Meeting Lilly twice in one lifetime?
Unreal.
Sasha (our adorable rep then and still good friend) and Lilly |
When someone asked for her to share "her story" and how she began, she quickly looked at them very non-chalantly replied "Well, darling, haven't you read my book?"
I think that was Lilly's way of saying, "ain't nobody got time for that!"
Again, one hilarious woman who I would have loved to spend ALL day with, not just a few hours.
But for those few hours, we were thankful.
An experience we will never forget!
Such an incredible woman. A true icon. May her legacy live on through her bright, vibrant, clothing and may she inspire everyone to live a colorful life!
I know I will.
I know I will.
Lilly, you will certainly be missed!
