Update: Cade at 13 Months

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

I'm not going to continue the monthly "chair and picture frame" pics/posts. I know, I know...Cade is really gonna miss those pics. {NOT!} However, I did want to share an update as to what he has been up to this past month. On Sunday he was officially 13 months!

On February 20th, he had a visit with the ENT doctor. Dr. Rust said the child keeps fluid on his ears constantly {uh, we knew this. Hence the reason he NEVER feels good } and his adenoids must come out too! Surgery is scheduled for March 18th and I never thought I'd say this about a surgery but we are SO ready.  This is going to be the best thing for our little guy. He has had so much trouble with his ears, constantly whines, never sleeps well, constantly pulls on his ears...so we pray that this surgery is just going to be a blessing and all goes well. Keep us in your prayers!

"Did somebody say SURGERY!!!!???"
After he got new "big bath toys" for his birthday, somehow we began giving him baths in our bathroom, not the guest bathroom. Honestly, I don't mind because that means I only have to clean one tub constantly, not two. He still loves bath time and loves his new toys!

One night while making brownies, Cade insisted I get him a bowl and spoon to mix too. A few weeks ago he took a spoon and just started mixing up his Gerber Graduates puff container. Where he learned this from I do not know, because I certainly don't cook or "mix" all the time. He loved helping me in the kitchen and pulling everything out of kitchen drawers is probably his favorite thing ever, besides being outside.

He also loves riding his turtle. Totally normal to wear sunglasses and hop a ride on your turtle over to your tent in YOUR DEN, right?

Cade also apparently loves to pull hair. Buh. Sorry about that Carter! Our sitter, Kim, says he aggravates the girls all the time and they will run and tell on him but Kim tells thems "that's just what boys do!" Aaaah, what am I going to do with this kid? I don't want a holy terror. He knows what "NO" means, but he is very strong willed and doesn't listen. He will just look at you with this sheepish grin. SUCH A MESS!

At least he makes up for that a bit by being a good helper. I laughed so hard last Saturday morning when he REALLY vacuumed our floors. Just in one spot, yes, but it was with our real Dyson, not his fake toy one. We have the smaller Dyson so it's not as heavy, but how he was strong enough to move it back and forth I do not know. He is a trip! I have to share the video soon because I couldn't believe it either.

He may be a mess, but he's a sweet little mess. If he knows he did something wrong and you scold him, he will instantly try to make up for it by giving you hugs and kisses. He LOVES giving kisses. If he gives me one, he will have to go over and give Chad one. He knows who "Dada" and "Mama" is and we are working on teaching him "Cade" and to point to himself. He also loves pushing any kind of button. My mom gets a kick out of how Cade uses ONLY his little index finger to push the button. He sticks that little finger out when he's near any sort of answering machine, light switch, phone...anything that can turn on and off - he can do it. Hilarious!

His other new words are "Uh oh", "ball", "woof woof" when you ask what a dog says, and "deeeez" which is "CHEESE" for when I take a picture. This is the face he makes...

He continues to entertain us daily, that is for sure.
Now we are looking forward to Spring finally rolling in this month. DST means longer days for Cade to play outside and we will all be happy about that! After we get his tubes put in, it will hopefully be smooth sailing from then on out. We look forward to maybe taking him to the zoo for the first time, birthday parties, Spring pics, and celebrating his second Easter.
Will keep you updated on how he does on March 18th. Thanks in advance for the prayers!
