first gorgeous Spring weekend

Monday, March 11, 2013

We had a great lowkey weekend. I took Friday off since I knew I was working all day Saturday then also had projects to do at the store on Sunday! Wasn't the weather absolutely gorgeous here in SC? YAY maybe Spring really IS just around the corner. {fingers crossed}

First up, Mr. Cade has officially learned how to unlock our iPads and iPhones. We don't have pass codes ( yet ) so now he's learned to click the button at bottom then swipe that little index finger to unlock. I've heard a lot of moms say their little ones learned how to do this very quickly. Unbelievable what babies know how to do these days!

On my day off Friday (and mom's too. She's off every Friday and keeps Cade that day), mom and I hit up the fabric sale again in Williamston (All About You Fabrics) so I could snag fabric for one of Sugar's dressing rooms. I want to frame the tall mirror with drapes and I found the most gorgeous grey quatrefoil embroidered fabric, almost IDENTICAL to Ballard's Firenze Embroidered Panels, but for $60 (for fabric) plus what it will cost to make them. That's still a lot less than $189+ per panel. [I never want to splurge on decor and such at Sugar, because I like keeping my expenses down of course. This forces me to think smart and be very frugal. I'll have to show you the end result!]

We also went antique store shopping, where I scored a few more awesome deals. Lunch at Pizza Buffet then a trip to Lowes. Cade decided he needed to buy some flowers, so he proceeded to pull the entire "flower buggy thing" out and then hop on it. Yes, all by himself. He also hopped up on the no turn lawnmower inside the store and would not come down. Pitched a fit! The kid loves Lowes and loves anything that he can ride.

Later on we met Aunt Coco after she got done with work and we tried to go to the park (only to find it was closed because they were working on the slides) and we fed the ducks in the {very low and muddy} pond! Cade was fearless, per the usual, and tried to run into the water to attack the ducks.

(it looks like I chopped my hair, but I haven't....yet)
Cade spent a lot of time in his tent loving on his Cocky pillow pet.

On Sunday, I had several "honey do" projects lined up for Chad at Sugar. He rarely darts those doors (too much pink?) but I finally got him over to get a few things done! So thankful!

Here's the Ikea Vittsjo shelving I spray painted gold. Pinterest idea. Check.
$40 plus $13 for three cans of Rustoleum Paint/Primer Spray Paint in Champagne Mist

The final product. Can't wait to add more Lilly polos and tees!
(and work on that window. Need new frames, signage, etc...)

my little elephant in the Lilly-inspired front window got a makeover.
I mean, who doesn't love a bright pink elephant?

Speaking of Lilly, our "Lilly inspired" dressing room also got a mini makeover. Recovered a zebra print bench with this fabulous green coral fabric from...yep, you guessed it, the fabric sale! (cost me $2)

Last but not least, I have to post about the exciting new addition to our family this weekend. Nope, not our family but my sister and her husband. They went to Charlotte today to pick up her early birthday present... the most precious wee Maltese pup, Teagan.

How stinkin' cute? I'm obsessed. Oh and I'm SURE Cade will be too...

Word of advice for sweet tiny Teagan: run for your life buddy, run for your life!
