I haven't really felt like blogging this week. It's been a hard week. Last Sunday we woke up to the news that some of our dear family friends, who we had grown up in church with our whole lives, had lost their 26 year old son in a tragic car accident.
Just like that.
Gone.
UNIMAGINABLE.
Receiving friends was Tuesday. Funeral Wednesday. Again, not a week where I felt like blogging.
My heart has literally ached for this sweet family. Like preacher Terry Greer said at the funeral "there is no loss like the loss of a child". He would know as he lost his daughter Melissa to cancer six years ago. Another dear family I grew up with and considered family of my own. I just don't understand. WHY Lord?
When I asked them to please let us know if we could do anything, their tearful response was simply this..."Pray. We just need a lot of prayers".
So blog friends, I am writing this post for one reason only. To ask you to pray. PLEASE PLEASE take just a few seconds out of your day to pray for this family! I can not even BEGIN to fathom what they are going through. Sure, I've lost all my grandparents. Lost my dad. Chad's lost his precious first cousin too soon too. His uncle. We've certainly faced death more than we wanted over the past five years....
But your child? Parents, just think about this for a second. Then please cherish every second you have with your children today, and everyday.
This family's life changed in a split second. A SECOND y'all...and it will never, I mean never, be the same.
Our community has been reminded once again that life IS short. It's sweet, precious, and an absolute gift. So again, my plea is to please say a prayer for this family and please do not take one second for granted. As Lori said, "it's not about the clothes BJ wore, the trucks he drove, the job he had...it's how he made people felt and how he spent his life". She is so right.
I just pray that God will wrap his arms around this precious family and give them the strength and peace they need in the days...weeks...and years ahead. There are SO many praying and thinking of them and one thing is for sure, BJ was certainly LOVED and will certainly be missed.
May God be with them.
"Also please pray for BJ's fiance, Heather (purple shirt, standing next to BJ). Again, can you imagine??? They ALL desperately need your prayers right now" |
