Ok so onto the details of my sister's engagement this weekend. I've been dying to share and about to BUST holding this surprise in for several weeks now. She said I could share with you guys on the blog. Last night Chad talked to her on the phone finally {so sad he couldn't be there} and after they hung up he said "Sandi, I think she's still in shock!" I said "Chad honey, it's called Cloud 9. She'll be up there for a while."
The big joke on Saturday was that she posted on Facebook, "Zip line? I think yes! :) "
How ironic because little did she know that she was about to get asked "MARRY ME?" and then
"SHE SAID YES!"
She. had. no. clue.
She thought that she was in the mountains at Mack's parents new mountain home just to see the new home and celebrate Mack's birthday - which is this week. It was a chance for Mack's entire family {he has three siblings, two nieces, and one nephew} to get together, which was rare. Even his sister Meri flew in from NYC. Court wasn't suspicious, just excited to spend the weekend with all them.
Well on Saturday Mack mentioned ziplining because he knew it was something Courtney wanted to do even though he wasn't a fan. She thought she had finally talked him into it. Little did she know he had been scheming with Hawks Next Zip Line in Boone for quite some time now. Everything was set. Courtney also thought my mom was at Abbeville's Hash Bash with friends and thought that I was with my college friend Cameron, since my husband Chad was away shrimping in Beaufort. Cameron had even posted on Courtney's Facebook wall "Hope I get to see you this weekend", blah blah blah so trust me we had several "in on the plan" so she would be totally clueless.
They enjoyed ziplining, and once at the last zipline Mack went first as usual and then they shook the line for Courtney to come down.
The zipline guy was ready to let her go and looked at her and said "Well....Congratulations!" She looked at him confused and said "For what!?"
He pushed her off and yelled "LOOK!"
About that time the trees parted and after a few seconds she could see Mack at the bottom of the zipline holding an enormous sign that said "Courtney will you marry me?" and he was down on one knee. She said she had one hand on the zipline "brake" and the other immediately went to her mouth as she started sobbing! She was in total shock!
Once at the bottom she said she could also see Mack crying and he had ring in his hand. She said she had to rip off those stupid zipline gloves for him to put on the ring and she immediately began saying "YES YES YES!" Ahhhh, melts my heart.
This was her expression coming down the zipline. Could. you. imagine?
one of the many photos the zipline staff got. They got SO many awesome photos!
{This is a pic of a pic on my phone. Will have to post more later}
Gotta love those helmets :)
Back at the Hite mountain house, we were all hanging out waiting for them to arrive. The surprises weren't over because again, she had no clue that mom and I were there!
This was the view from the mountain house. AH-mazing!
Mack's neice and nephew playing waiting on "Uncle Mack and "Tortney" as they call her.
How cute are they?
THEN she called to tell me the news and I pretended to be oh-so-estatic, as if I had no idea and pretended to be at home. So did mom.
FINALLY after much anticipation, they arrived. Quite possibly one of the. best. pictures. ever.
Check out my mom's face and Courtney was still in shock.
Here we are with the Hite fam, except we are missing Debbie and Heather, who were inside with more of the kiddos, then JoBeth was taking the picture. We'll have to do better next time!
Again, it was the perfect weekend and these two are absolutely perfect for one another.
They have dated for nearly 6 years and known each other even longer than that! We absolutely love Mack and I couldn't ask for a better future brother in law. His family is amazing and we thank them for such a fun weekend. We had a wonderful time and Mack {and his family} certainly did a good job pulling this off! We are so thankful that the Lord brought these two together many years ago. God is so good.
Now all that's left to say is...
CONGRATULATIONS MACK & COURTNEY!
and let the wedding planning begin...
This was such a sweet proposal! Congrautlations to them! :)
