We won't know the sex of Baby M until sometime around the first of September at 18-20 weeks. Wellllll, that is unless of course we get a wild hair and go to a place in Greenville that will tell you as early as 16 weeks. I'm trying to practice my patience here people and if you know me, that is very difficult but something I need to work on. Chad is definitely up for going early (more so than me, which is surprising) so we will just have to see and will keep you updated for sure.
Even though we've got a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to look at the Old Wives Tales (which I obsessively Google 24/7 on my phone and Chad quickly tells me "Sandi, you have GOT to stop reading!") A few other blogs have done this so I just thought it would be fun. I know these can all be wrong, as well as Chinese Gender Chart, but again - all fun and games. Here goes...
Morning sickness: They say that little girls make their mamas sick. I only "got sick" twice and have only had mild nausea so I'm thinking BOY
Soft or dry skin? Mine has been dry, but I'm not sure if that's just because I got SO much sun at the beach? Still, it's never been like this before so they say dry skin = BOY
Are you craving citrus? Yes! I drink OJ like it's going out of style and I've even found myself buying lots of apple juice and V8 fruit splash juice, which I NEVER drink. This would mean GIRL
Have you felt glowing or less than beautiful and had lots of breakouts? Um, glowing as in if you mean your face gets super oily. I've always had problem skin and heaven help me, this little one has kicked it into high gear. Ugh, it's awful and nothing I can do about it but fake it with lots and lots of makeup. They say little girls take all the beauty out of their mamas, if that is true then this would mean GIRL
Heartbeat indicator: I don't really know about this one? They say if it's over 140 bpm then it's girl but I know plenty of women whose babies have have had high heartbeats and been boys. But if we're going to go along with the wives tale, our little one had 168 bpm then 154 bpm so indicator of a GIRL
Craving fruit or meat?: I have craved meat. If I don't have chicken or some sort of red meat everyday, I crave it and HAVE to have it. You don't understand. Hamburgers have been my thing and lots of cheese! They say this means BOY
Pendullum test: This was weird and we laughed so hard because neither of us had a clue as to what we were doing! Chad held it over my belly, went back and forth = BOY. I held it over my belly and it went in circles = GIRL. Then we were told you hold it over your palm. *light bulb* Oooooohhh. Well, who knows?
Dreams- Some people say whatever you dream about is what you are having. Others have said that you have opposite of what you have been dreaming about. I have had zero dreams about the gender but Chad has dreamed three different times that it is a GIRL.
How you carry - Some say if you carry high, it's a girl. Carry low, it's a boy. Also, if you carry your weight out front, it's a boy and if in middle [more wide] it's a girl. I can't really tell if I'm carrying high or low, but I'd say the belly has "popped" and it's definitely out front like a basketball a little bit, so I'm going with BOY!
We've had so many family members think BOY, and I myself am convinced it's a "little Chad" in there :) But really, I don't have a very strong feeling either way. Aren't you suppose to have a motherly instinct or something?
Chad's guess is 100% GIRL, hands down.
He makes me chuckle sometimes at his confidence, but he is going to be the one laughing at me, saying "I told you so" if it really is a girl! I'm just not so sure buddy...
What do you guys think? Any other wives tale's we should try?
I was going to add a gender poll on the side of the blog, but couldn't get it to work. Just comment and leave your "vote"! Either way we will 100% be absolutely THRILLED whether it's boy or girl because we are so blessed just to even get pregnant again and have a healthy baby so far! I've said that all along from the very beginning "Do not care boy or girl, as long as my baby is HEALTHY!"
and I. mean. it.
I have so many friends [and sister/bro in law] who have baby boys so it would be awesome to have a boy to grow up with them and be on the same football, baseball, etc...team. They would all be so close! :) It would also be special to have a daughter to dress up like mini-me, tag along with me to market, and could hopefully one day continue on the family business! ha jk. Seriously though, either way we will be thrilled to have a son OR daughter [and still overwhelmed just by saying that we will actually have a "son or daughter". I still don't think it has sunk in]. We just can't wait to see our sweet baby again and make sure everything is going well.
We'll let you know as soon as we find out PINK or BLUE!
Thanks for stopping by! I had morning (all day sickness) for four weeks with my first pregnancy (boy) and nothing this time. I'm wondering if it's a girl? I was convinced with my first pregnancy it was girl so who knows?!? It's fun to guess.
ReplyDeleteisn't there some type of OTC gender test you can take?
ReplyDeletei''m gonna guess girl, but i have a feeling it's gonna be a boy. you'll be awesome parents either way. :) and he/she will be spoiled by his/her auntie beth.
They sell a gender test in drug stores if it goes orange it's a girl and green it's a boy. My cousin did it and it went green and she's having a boy. Would love to find out if it really works:)
ReplyDeleteWith my son, I knew he was a boy. With my girl, I had no idea (but Blake claimed to know from the beginning!)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely go in early to see the gender :) I can't stand the waiting game!! Oh and I wouldn't try the OTC gender test. I have heard it is a waste of money...only 60% accurate...so pretty much a wild guess.
I'm going to guess girl because I was less sick with my girl, but the orange juice thing is making me think boy because I craved it with my son!
Another wives' tale is the baking soda test. Put some baking soda in the bottom of a cup, pee into another cup, and pour a little of your pee on the baking soda. If it fizzes, it's a boy. No fizz...it's a girl. That one didn't work for me, but just another guess! :)
Congrats on your baby! According to all the old wives tales, both of mine should have been boys....but they were girls! I even did the pencil test, the chinese calendar, and the ring test....all said BOY! we found out with libbi, but not with laney. but even still i was convinced that both of them were boys! you know that now they say there is a blood test that can tell you as early as seven weeks??!?! i don't know how much it costs though (and i doubt it's covered by insurance....) but still, i would be SO tempted to do it! can't wait to hear...and i'm gonna guess boy - just because :)
