Prayer and Blessings

So I definitely haven't had time to blog much. Spring is such a busy time, but I hope I can catch up this week. First I'll give you this. It's what has been on my mind the most:

I received a new update from my sweet friend Courtney yesterday. Her husband discovered a several spots on his neck a few months ago [actually right around the same time their new baby boy was born], which ended up being melanoma. They removed it immediately but the doctors later discovered cancerous cells in the lymph nodes in his neck. They have been through so much. He began radiation this week.

Week one of radiation: Kirk has done extremely well this week. Radiation has not caused any major side effects besides fatigue. His skin should not be effected (sunburn like and painful) until after the second week. The house we are in does not have internet access so sorry for the delayed reply to e-mails, but please know we are so thankful that so many are concerned and are praying for our family.
We have had a beautiful weekend. This week was mixed with good and bad days, but we are praising the Lord for the weekend. Yesterday we were able to go on our first family hike. It was a gorgeous day and Kirk felt energized!! We hiked along the Eno River with Cayden in a backpack and Wyatt in a front carrier. The kids had a blast and I am attaching a picture so you can see how good we all felt! I know that many of you are specifically praying for the time that we have as a family…thank you. God does always know what we need.
So we have been praying to serve God through this and while we are here in Chapel Hill and something has come up as a possible option: while Kirk was in line at the grocery store a man started talking with him. The man runs a place for troubled/ lost teenagers. After hearing Kirks summarized testimony/story he asked if Kirk would come and share his journey with a few of the people at the center! Talk about a divine intervention! Thank you God! We will keep you posted on how that goes.
This week Kirk will continue to have his treatments later in the evening. The radiation rooms are booked from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Once someone with an earlier slot is finished with their radiation course, Kirk will be able to move into that slot.
Thank you again for your love and prayers! We are blessed by all of you. “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1: 8-9

The Henry’s

Their unwavering faith, trust, and hope in the Lord is so encouraging/inspiring. Every single step of the way, they are "praising Him in this storm". Join me in praying for them!

There are so many others who need prayer. It has really been a whirlwind of a week. One of those weeks where every day there has been some sort of tragedy, accident, and prayer requests from friends we know. Not the kind of week you want to have but luckily there are already lots of praises and answered prayers from these. Thank you Lord!

Another reminder that GOD IS GOOD and prayers are powerful.

With the earthquake/tsunami devastation in Japan, it is really a time to reflect and realize just how blessed we are. It just breaks my heart when watching the footage and thinking of all the lives lost. I think everyone is going through some sort of struggle and there are so many with heartache and prayer requests this week, but there are also so many PRAISES and blessings too. We just sometimes get caught up and it's so easy to take it all for granted.

"the Lord is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..." - Ephesians 3:20

Lyndsie posted this song on her blog last week and tears filled my eyes as I listened. I hadn't heard this song in such a long time and it was the perfect reminder at the perfect time. Thank you again Lyndsie for posting. Thought I'd share it again!
