My grandparents, J.O. & Lois, had my mom when they were 42, so by the time my sister and I arrived they were in their 60s already. However, like Frank Sinatra says it doesn't matter your age as long as you are "young at heart" , which they definitely were...
So young at heart that since they were retired, they kept us everyday while mom and dad worked. Those days were the best memories of our childhood. We were the only grandchildren, and needless to saythey spoiled us a little...ok, well a lot!
We celebrated our birthdays together every year since I can remember...
Since he passed away in 2006, I have certainly missed having him by my side..."Great fathers get promoted to GRANDfathers"
