Disney Day 2: Magic Kingdom

Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Up and at em' early on Friday. It was Cade's BIRRRRRTHDAY!!!

This mama woke up at 5:30am and started a cup of coffee immediately. Shew. I got the boys up around 6:30-6:45 and Cade was so excited that Mickey left him birthday surprises in the room.

We were running a little behind actually and scared to wait on the buses since we had an 8am breakfast reservation and could enter the park anytime after 7:30. I wanted to get on over there so we took an Uber only to find out once the Uber got to Magic Kingdom, it could only drop you off near the Monorail and ferry, so we had to take the ferry over. That took up more time but boy did Cade love it and the views of the castle on the way over were worth it...

Quick pic of the birthday boy wearing his birthday pin as we walked to Fantasyland for breakfast at Be Our Guest!

I was so excited about breakfast here and pre-ordered our food on Disney's website the week before (saves time but for early breakfast reservations, honestly there wasn't much wait). This is a quick service, even though you sit at a table, have a waiter, etc...We got there right at 8:05 to check in and there were so many places to sit (you can choose your seats), but by 8:45ish when we left, it. was. packed. Note to everyone: the earlier the better. We sat in the West Wing, which had thunder & lightning effects every 10 minutes or so, a picture of the prince that turned into the beast during the storm, and of course the ROSE!

this is the main ballroom when you first come in. they have it where it looks like it's snowing outside those windows!
You get an assortment of pastries first, then they bring around your food. I had the quiche + fruit and Cade/Chad both had the regular breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and fruit. It wasn't a TON of food, but it was plenty to get the day started.

After breakfast, we hopped on Journey of the Little Mermaid ride that's right next door with no wait. Then we went over and rode Goofy's Barnstormer and Dumbo!

From then on, I can barely remember what rides we knocked out. We rode Tomorrowland Speedway, then went over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and then we had a FastPass for Peter Pan's Flight and also did the carousel, Small World, and Mickey's 3D PhilarMagic Concert (which Cade LOVED. Like seriously if you asked him what his favorite thing was, he would probably say this. Hilarious). Cade was nervous about Splash Mountain so we said we would come back to that and Haunted Mansion (yes, he acted like he wanted to ride that too but we never did)

We had popcorn and more snacks around lunch, then had a FastPass for Seven Dwarf's Mine Train and this is where the meltdown began. He went through the line and got to the end (so incredibly tired at this point, it was going on 3pm) and just freaked. He was miserable, we could tell, so Chad took him out and I rode front row with the GoPro! Yes, epic video of our trip coming soon..."soon" as in hopefully by the end of this year. HA!

After that, we made our way to exit the park and go back to rest/nap. I pushed back one of our FastPasses and decided we'd come later in the evening. Again, I had no set plans for this day and knew we would just do whatever Cade felt up to! On the way out we caught the parade, where Mickey waved and "talked" with Cade and he was just SO excited about that.

with my prince charming ;)

We went back to the resort and grabbed nachos and a burger at Pepper Market (so good) then we rested/napped super quick. Made our way back to the parks around 6ish as the sun began to set.  I took this photo just as we stepped onto Main Street and you can tell this is the castle's "golden hour".

Also, y'all, I can not tell you how amazing the weather was too. Especially on this particular day. It may have reached a high right above 80 but when we went back in the evening it was an awesome 70ish degrees. So thankful we had perfect weather! I am not sure if I'll ever be able to get Chad back during another time of year. February seemed to be wonderful...

Epic Park Day tee by Happily Ever Tees
He's FIVE!!!!!

We had a FastPass for Buzz Lightyear ride and I look like such a dork in this pic, but pleeease look at Cade. His face!!!! If this doesn't just sum it up right there. The time of his life...

then to top it off, he got to meet Buzz! Too bad he didn't want to wear his Buzz Lightyear Van's (they were sliding on his heels and "it wasn't soft", so there ya go. Poor kid needed to be comfy with all those miles we were walking, sheesh. He even changed into these Nike's for the evening just so he was even more comfy)

We were going to do the People Mover and other rides in Tomorrowland, but Cade wanted to do the tea cups so off we went to ride on the Mad Hatter Tea Cups then we grabbed a quick dinner at Casey's Corner just in time for the fireworks!

after fireworks we did Pirates of the Carribean, Jungle Cruise, and Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride (had FastPass for but there wasn't really a wait anywhere). We asked Cade what he wanted to do before we left and out of all the rides he wanted to do Journey Under the Sea again, which we walked right on. We also rode Dumbo again and finished up with even more sweet snacks (if you can't tell in the pic above, Cade's mouth has red slushie and chocolate ALL. OVER. IT. #yolo) There's no way to cram everything into one day (well, with little ones that is). I guess technically you could, but I certainly never wanted to feel like we were too rushed, too planned, or too crazy and we all really enjoyed it and loved every bit (ok maybe minus Cade's meltdown at Mine Train but considering it was the only one during the entire trip, I'd say he did pretty darn good).

It really was the perfect day and most EPIC way to spend Cade's fifth birthday!

when you wish upon a star...

Good night from the Magic Kingdom...

What a magical {and exhausting!} day it was. Next up: Hollywood Studios
