fripp 2017 :: part one

warning: pic overload.

We've vacationed at Fripp Island, SC with my husband's family since 2010! Before then, we went to Garden City. We also went to North Myrtle with my mom, sis and bro-in-law because his family had a house there. Once they sold it two years ago, I decided to introduce my mom and sister to Fripp last year and we just took the boys for a long weekend. They fell in love just like we did seven years ago!

This year, my bro-in-law wasn't coaching Legion and Chad took off work so we could ALL spend a week at Fripp. It would be my niece Macy's first beach trip and we were all so, so excited for some down time and vitamin SEA! Oh how I needed it. (I looked back at our crazy busy Spring and realized I had directed two weddings, photographed one, attended two more, planned two huge store events, and traveled to Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta and WPB ALL WITHIN 3 MONTHS!!!!!!!! Shew. Mama was tired!!)

Last year we scoped out which house we would like to rent for this Summer and we even booked it as early as the end of last Summer (you kinda have to book early if you want one oceanfront or anywhere near the ocean). We decided on 701 Whiting, which is center island (a great location and great beach) and it sits right behind this ginormous ocean front house so it was actually less than paying actual oceanfront, even though it was just steps away from the beach.

I always love seeing reviews of other VRBO houses, so here's a few pics I snapped and my pros/cons of the house!

Had no idea the house was called "Sandy Shores"! It was a SIGN :) :)

lots of rocking chairs on the deck just off the kitchen and just beyond those palm trees you can see the ocean! Also had a great grill and the garage was HUGE and so nice.

nice large galley kitchen

I didn't get a pic of the dining area, but this is yet another breakfast nook table and a sunroom sort of area that had a pull out twin bed

you could definitely see the ocean from one of the bedrooms

bunk beds for our boys + two fulls in our bedroom

large den area with flatscreen tv + dvd player (we watched movies at night!)

huge master suite with a double sink bathroom area

What we loved about Sandy Shores - 701 WHITING:

  • so spacious, plenty of room and could seat up to 14 at all of the tables
  • jam packed kitchen complete with under cabinet lighting and all of your cooking necessities
  • HUGE garage with a fridge (this is huge for us! always need more fridge space) and a sink for cleaning fish + tons of beach chairs, boogie boards and toys for the kids
  • plenty of parking
  • big deck with rocking chairs
  • awesome gas grill
  • literally steps away from the beach since it sits right on one of the most popular beach access points
  • the owners were GREAT! We met one as he brought a brand new coffee maker the day we moved in since he said the other had broke. The wife responded via text anytime we needed her, which was only once. They made booking the house easy. Great owners!
What we didn't love about Sandy Shores - 701 WHITING:
  • really, nothing! It was one of our favorite houses to date. It is only three bedroom/three bath which was perfect for our family but most houses seem to have four (which we need for our friends trip) so that's the only reason that wouldn't work for that.
  • i will say since it's located at one of the most popular beach accesses, it was a bit more of a crowded beach than some other beach access points. still not near as crowded as your more commercialized beaches, hence why we love it so much!

We arrived around 3pm and after unloading, we head straight to the beach! Charlie was in awe and loved it even more this year...

Cade was back in his element. My word, this boy loves the ocean!

Macy felt the ocean and sand for the first time and didn't quite know what to think! HA

We went down to Cabana Club to grab pizzas for dinner and then settled in to watch movies and rest up for our first full day at the beach!

We woke up to another great day of perfect weather. I could take a million pics of this precious doll...

water lovin' babies...

the sweetest kisses from Grami

that evening the boys went fishing...

Cade reeling in a big ol' redfish...

so. proud.

Charlie was not amused and just decided to get back in the ocean, clothes and all!

another gorgeous Fripp sunset!

the next day we started out at the pool! One of the reasons we buy amenity cards to access all the pools, restaurants, etc... is because we love the pools so much. the one foot kiddie pool is awesome for Charlie's age as he was able to touch and walk around on his own this year!

They also have a bar in between all the pools where you can get frozen drinks (non-alcoholic or with alcohol) and the kids love those too! Well, we all do

we went to the beach that afternoon and little man was WORE out!

beach naps are the best naps...

his faces. kill. me.

That evening Chad cooked us a low country boil, we had more golf cart rides and aaall deer that came right up to our front door. Check out Charlie's little hands. He was thinking "Hmmph, I'm just gon' stand right here..."

all I have time for today, off to download more pics... ;)
