Our Disney Farewell Breakfast + Coronado Springs

Monday, February 20, 2017

Like I said in the previous Disney post, on Saturday night when we finished up at Hollywood Studios we came back to our resort, Coronado Springs, and had just enough time to take a dip in the too cold for me pool. Cade even did the slide and was swimming around like a fish without a lifejacket on. (proud because he hasn't even had swimming lessons yet!) Chad got in with him, while I stayed bundled up because even though the pool was heated, the hot tub was more my speed (yet it was packed!) There was a little cantina/bar right there at the pool, an arcade and a "dig site" which was really cool because the kids could dig in the sand and find all sorts of archeological finds! It was right next to a big playground too.

silly boy ready for bed that night...

On Sunday morning we woke up super early, checked in our luggage right there at our resort (so yes, you skip that process at the airport and just go straight to security. really nice!) and had the first breakfast reservation at 7:30 at Ohana at the Polynesian Resort! This was our view from our table, we were right at the window. It was too foggy to see in this pic, but you could see the castle in the distance. I'd LOVE to stay at the Polynesian one day (or the Contemporary...or hey any that are right there so close to Magic Kingdom!)

I didn't get pictures but their signature pineapple bread and special juice that they bring you in the beginning was delicious, then it's a family style all you can eat breakfast. Complete with Mickey and "Stitch" waffles, bacon, eggs, scambled eggs, fresh fruit, you name it. Delish!

silly Pluto signing his autograph...

and another silly one. y'all. this kid is a trip!! he kept us laughing...

and visiting with Mickey again was the highlight of the day, for sure!

one of my favorite pics of the entire trips...

and I had to get my pic with Mickey too!!

Stitch was so funny...

and there's Lilo!

Minnie usually comes around too but we must have missed her. After filling our bellies, it was time to head back to Coronado Springs to catch the magical express to the airport. **tear**

Once at the airport, Cade still found Disney characters and wanted to take pics. Nope, the magic wasn't over just yet ;) ...

Now it's time to plan the next Disney vacay, right? Isn't that what everyone says? Ummm unless we win a free trip from now to then, we will look forward to taking Charlie back when he turns 5 too. (However, seeing that his birthday is on July 2nd, we will not be going on his exact birthday. Sorry Charlie. Mama does not need to die of a heat stroke. Maybe for his 5 1/2 birthday? ;)

Plenty of time to plan....to dream....to SAVE! It is certainly worth every penny to see their sweet faces light up and next time we look forward to taking our time even more and staying an entire week. I think that would be key so we could go to Epcot + Disney Springs too and maybe middle of the week just take a day to relax by the pool at the resort all day.

Speaking of being at the resort by the pool all day...I wish we could have enjoyed more of what Coronado Springs had to offer because it was gorgeous. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!!!
  • My only CON: was very spread out and a lot of walking, but hellooo it's Disney. Just be prepared to walk. That also meant that there was a lot to see and do. Beautiful lakes and pools and outside bars and also outside movie nights, etc...
  • Maybe a con to some was that it was not "kid-themed" or "disney-themed" and since it's the convention center of all resorts, you can expect more adults than kids here which hey we also did not mind. Still plenty for kids to do and Cade loved the pool, slide, etc...
  • We also thought Pepper Market, the "food court" was REALLY good and we are food fanatics! So much variety, from loaded nachos to bacon burgers...pizzas...salads...desserts. There was a lot to choose from and we used our Quick Service credit. Oh and we had the refillable mugs as well.

  •  Also the rooms have two QUEEN beds and I think one of the only Disney resorts to offer that so that was a plus and of course there's also a mini fridge, coffee maker, etc in the room...
  • It's closest in distance to Animal Kingdom, out of all the parks. Just FYI
It was beautiful! Next time, we'd definitely drive as well and pack so much more food and snacks. It was great to take this quick trip to "get our feet wet" and yep, I'll definitely have my notes ready for next time.

Until then Disney, C ya real soon!

    1. I would LOVE to stay at the Polynesian one day! Gorgeous. I thought Ohana was delish! My men didn't love the pineapple bread and signature juice, but I sure did. They gobbled down the rest of breakfast. So good and so much fun. Now I'm like you - ready to go back!!! :)
