WILW: a few picks for Fall

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

I have been itching to take a trip to the mountains this Fall. Being in Upstate, SC we are so fortunate to live about four hours from the beach and four hours from the mountains. You can head to the coast during the Summer and the foothills during the Fall/Winter. The Tennessee and NC mountains during October is pretty much God's way of showing out. Absolutely gorgeous! We are thinking about a spontaneous trip to take Cade soon...

I'd love to soak in all of nature's beauty and spend some time outdoors in the cool, crisp mountain air. Aaaah, it's good for the soul. Sounds cliche but I'd stay outside on a porch swing in the mountains forever. Just like sitting in a beach chair at the ocean. It's just closer to heaven or something because that's what it feels like: heavenly. Speaking of the mountains and being "outdoorsy",  I realized we made need a few new essentials for a mountain trip. I would love to have these for a good Fall/Winter shoe.  Not like a workout shoe (because let's be serious, I never work out these days) but more like a super comfortable shoe for walking, being outdoors, and even more walking. Whether it's going on day trips with Cade to places like Tweetsie Railroad or long days of marathon Christmas shopping. I use to wear Merrell's all the time during Fall/Winter when casual and not quite sure why I ever stopped because they are sooo comfy. These are a great neutral.

As for baby Merrells, love these for Cade...

Of course cute boots would be a given for a mountain trip too. Quilted vest. Plaid. In case you have been living under a rock, then you know these are absolute necessities for your Fall wardrobe.
I am ready for the temps to cool off around here (and stay cool).

If you are looking to invest in a good quilted vest (because they're really much more than a trend - truly a classic), Lilly Pulitzer does it again with their even-more-fabulous-than-last-year Getaway Vest. It is seriously THE most flattering vest on the market and never makes you feel "puffy". Available in navy, green, and pink (the almond color is already sold out but it's beyond good)

I would make sure little man had something like this for a mountain trip too.

Maybe I should get to packing soon and try to plan a quick getaway as one last "break" before the Holiday madness. Can't wait to take Cade to pick some apples or pumpkins...or both!

After all, it's the first day of October and now I can officially say "it's time for Fall!"
